The Good Stuff
• High adventure is the substance of this book. Hiding from soldiers, watching for spies, and wielding a claymore are all featured activities in this book.
• Good for those who love Scottish and Christian history. If you are studying the culture or time-period you will greatly enjoy this accurate account. (Note that while it is mostly accurate it is still historical fiction.)
The Bad Stuff
• This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the book will probably rub Roman Catholics the wrong way. The writer accurately expresses the problems with Catholics of that era and while he fairly represents faithful lay Catholics in one of his characters, the main perspective is Protestant.
Recommendation
This book is highly recommended: 8/10
